Flight of The Bumblebee~大黃蜂進行曲
A Small idea, A Big surprise！
小點子，大驚喜！
Most people know ” Flight of The Bumblebee ” played by all kinds of instruments.
But have you ever seen a performance played by bee costume wearing
performers running around the instrument?
What instrument can make this effect?
This performance happened during EE’s high school junior recital .
大多數的人聼過的“大黃蜂進行曲”，都是由各種樂器所演奏的版本。
你見過穿著黃蜂裝扮的演奏家，繞著樂器正、反兩面演奏的大黃蜂進行曲嗎？
什麼樣的樂器可以如此呈現的呢？
這些都是發生在一一11年級的音樂演奏會上我為她設計的曲目裝扮上。
How fast can the bee really be during “Flight of The Bumblebee “?
What instrument can make the music sound like real bees buzzing?
Any, but only the Marimba can be played with another
trick; Playing front side and back side by running around the Marimba.
Because of this fun effect, I designed bee costumes for EE and her music
guest, K , with a fitting story line.
欣賞這首“大黃蜂進行曲”最有趣的地方，就是
～音樂的速度
及
～蜜蜂振翅聲音的相似度
而所有的樂器都有可能做到這些效果，但唯一只有木琴類的樂器有另一種特效，那就是
可以繞著樂器正、反顛倒的敲打。
由於這種特效性，我便為一一和她的音樂夥伴K，設計了兩套蜜蜂裝，及一段
有趣的故事，配合演出。
Two curious bees find the beautiful sound of the Marimba when they buzz
around in the garden.
兩隻好奇的小蜜蜂在花園裏振翅玩耍，發現木琴可以敲打出了美妙的音樂。
They are so excited to play music and fly around at the same time.
她們非常興奮地繞著木琴，開心得敲打著音樂。
So interesting to play this piece by running around the marimba !
繞著木琴正、反兩面敲打出的美妙音樂, 好聽又有趣！
When you design stage costumes you don’t need to do everything . You only
need to know how to put matching outfits together.
These bee costumes are half bought & half
made.
The black and yellow parts are mirrored . The main parts that I made were head
ornaments, wings,vests, and bee’s tails. I bought the rest in stores as
cheap as I can find.
Two opposite color sets, so cute !
在舞台服或劇服設計上並不需要事必躬親，只要懂得如何找東西搭配。
這是一套半買半做，搭配而成的劇服
以黃黑相間的配置為主，我主要製作的部分在於頭飾、翅膀、背心、及蜂尾。兩套以相
反顏色的配置交叉而成。就成了趣味性十足的效果！
After EE’s concert, there was a buzz about these cute bumblebee costumes.
Therefore, when EE and RR’s percussion group was
planning a big concert trip to Taiwan, this music piece and outfits got picked.
This time not only 2 bees but 6 bees were playing on 3 Marimbas.So I
made 4 more outfits for the group.
－－的演奏會之後，大家對於這首曲目及服裝留下了深刻的印象。所以當－－、倆倆的
打擊樂團在策劃回台灣巡回演奏時，這首有戲劇效果的曲子就雀屏中選了！而這次並非
只有兩隻蜜蜂而是六隻蜜蜂（共三台木琴). 因此，我多做了4套小蜜蜂劇服配合這個版
本的故事。
Second generation of 6 Flying Bumblebees
The story line becomes more interesting on this generation.
這個版本的故事更有趣了！
To continue the story from 2 curious bees , they invited 2 well-behaved bees,
and the lazy fat bee, to join the play.
延續兩隻好奇的小蜜蜂的故事，她們呼朋引伴的邀請了兩
隻守規矩的小蜜蜂,以及又懶又胖的大蜜蜂，一起來敲打木琴玩音樂。
The girls are so excited and started to play music but not lazy fat bee . He just
licks his giant lollipop and hit notes randomly. Girls buzz together for a
solution.
They greet the Queen Bee, respectfully and ask her for help to
make him cooperate. Finally after the Queen’s lecture ,
the lazy bee played the music in time.
After that intense running
around the marimba during the whole song ……he fainted in the end!
女孩們非常興奮地敲打著木琴，唯獨胖蜂不肯配合。他舔著超大的棒棒
糖，打著零亂的拍子，大家都好氣他哦！
經過一陣子商量後，終於想到方法可以治他了！
她們恭敬的請出了高大的女王蜂，七嘴八舌的告訴了女王，並請求女王的協助。
最終，在女王的訓叱之下，胖蜂乖乖聽話的完成了完美的大黃蜂進行曲。不過由於他也
繞著木琴跑得太喘太激烈⋯⋯他在曲子完成後～昏倒了！
The whole costume sets are not much different between girls. I just copy the
idea from The curious bees. But for the fat bee, I struggled for a while.
The fat bee actor is a tall and fit young man. I needed to put 2 layers of pillows
to make him fat. The biggest size of pants that I could find is size 46.
這一整套劇服在女孩方面並無其他變化，我只是延用了－－和 k的様子多做了三套。但
胖蜂的角色就有點難度了！演繹胖蜂的是個又高又瘦的年輕人。我必需利用2個枕頭墊
子填充他的上胸及肚子，讓他看起來很胖。而我能找到的最大尺寸的褲子是46腰。
I used a hard rubber tube and suspenders to support his waist.
為了挺起胖肚子的感覺，我用了硬橡膠管子和吊帶成功的挺起了枕頭。

The same group attended the city talent show after they come back from the
Taiwan trip. They won the first place and a $100 dollars . 6 of them decided to
donate the money to their percussion group．
I am so proud of them ！
六個孩子從台灣巡迴演奏表演回來之後，又參加了密爾必達市的才藝比賽。最終抱回
了冠軍及100元獎金。經過商量後，他們決定將獎金捐給了培養他們的打擊樂團。
我真的為他們有如此回報之心而感動啊！
I never thought a small idea can grow into a big surprise!
我從來沒想到一個小小的設計，可以延展出大大的驚喜！
