Feeling cold this winter?
Here’s a simple solution to keep the chills at bay!
冬日寒風，感覺冷嗎？
Every week, I go with the Tzu Chi Foundation to volunteer at
the Fremont Hills MBK Senior Living. With the holiday season
approaching, we wanted to make something for them. It’s
been chillier than usual this winter, so I felt that a reheat-able
heat pack would be a good gift.
我和慈濟基金會的志工們每週都固定到的Fremont Hills 耆英中心與
長者同樂。隨著佳節將近，我們想送個小禮物給他們。由於今年的
冬天比往常寒冷，我建議送一個可以重複使用的小暖包給他們。

Fabric from sample book
樣品布片
l collect fabric sample books from home decorating
companies. The fabric samples are small but good quality,
making it perfect for this project.
我平時就有收集一些居家佈置公司的樣品布。布料材質樣式都非常
好但尺寸很小，正合適做這種小件物品。

Red Beans
紅豆
I learned from a Chinese Doctor a good method of
microwaving red beans to keep heat for at least 10 minutes. I
have been making red bean heat packs for my family and
friends for a while. They all love it! Especially my parents,
parents-in law, and their friends. All elders are best fans for
these heat packs. Red beans are the best filling for reheat-able
bags.
我跟一位中醫學了一個很棒的方法，使用微波爐加熱的紅豆可以保
溫至少10分鐘左右。於是我為家人及朋友做了很多紅豆熱敷袋。所
有人都非常的喜歡，特別是父母、公婆及他們的朋友。所有的長者
都是紅豆熱敷袋的超級粉絲。紅豆是重覆性使用的熱敷袋中最好的
填充材料。
Others donated red beans while I made the bags.
其他的志工提供了紅豆，而我則負責車縫製作及包裝完成。

packs.

shows us a great perseverance.

Maddie, 100 years old, the oldest one in Fremont Hills. She is
so energetic and happy!
She say ” I made it!” When we celebrate her 100th birthday!
So cute!
100歲的Maddie, 是最年長的耆英，但卻仍充滿活力、樂觀開朗！
當我們為她100歲慶生時，她振臂高呼「我終於做到啦！」真是太可
愛了！
Pearl, participated the most.
Sing out loud! A specially in sign language song!
Pearl是參與力最强的長者！大聲唱歌！特別是手語歌也比得一極
棒！
See how happy we are! We all have a fun hour singing and
playing !
看我們多開心啊！我們快樂的唱歌、玩打擊樂器整整有一個小時的
時間呢！
