It’s not easy to learn how to make a prom dress in a short time,but easier to learn how to transform a regular dress to a prom dress.
I enjoyed making this kind of project when my two girls attended their prom in high school also their music recital. It’s a good opportunity that I can play with all tricks to make simple dresses become formal.
I am more than happy to show you some projects that I made for them in the past years.

當女兒們在高中時期參加舞會及音樂演奏會時，我非常喜歡做這類的創作。這是一個很棒的機會我可以盡情地發揮我的創意，把一件簡單平凡的衣服變成正式的禮服。

I found this dress in a very good shape and cheap too . It fitted EE nicely but the only thing I don’t like it is the cheap looking rhinestones. I tore off the rhinestones and replaced with a nice flow looking crystal pin instead.
The dress turned out gracefully !
我買到這件便宜但品質很好的禮服，非常合一一的身形。但原配件卻非常的粗糙，看起來就像便宜貨，非常可惜。我可以想像把它替換掉之後一定會很棒。果不其然，我用了這支很有動感的水晶鑽別針之後，整件衣服的質感變得非常優雅！

A friend’s daughter gave EE this nice red dress for her prom . Fitted EE very well but felt a little bit ordinary. Therefore I added bling-bling stripes on the shoulder & neck line to shine this dress up. Especially a square of diamond piece I added to focus on V neck line.
This dress became a nice concert dress when EE had her Junior & senior music recital.
One piece, two usefulness!
朋友的女兒給了一一這件紅色的禮服，很性感但卻略嫌平凡。我為她在肩帶及領口線上加了亮閃閃的條鑽，更在V型的中心領口上放了一片方形的水晶鑽片，衣服整個就亮眼起來了！
這件禮服，一一不但穿著參加舞會，更在之後的二次音樂演奏會上，成為她很重要的演出禮服！

I hand sewed this mesh piece on top of the dress slowly and patiently. It took me a while to finish it.
我慢慢地、耐心地手縫了這一大片網狀的綉片！有點難度，但效果極佳！
EE needed a formal dress for her junior recital. I bought this common dress in a low sale price. I tried to match this dress to the coonception of this music piece and finally found this big woven pattern of peacock feathers to add on. The dress turned out so elegant and valued up.
一一11年級的音樂演奏會和大提琴手合奏了一首改編的曲子，我希望為她的曲目配上一件合適的禮服。尋找許久，終於在大減價時買了這件顔色很美的藍紗禮服。樣式單純俐落，非常有創作空間！之後也找到了這片華麗的孔雀羽毛綉片，正可表現交疊多變的曲目特色，華而不俗。

RR decided not to wear a long dress for the only prom in her high school years.This purple cute out fit was nice to match her partner G’s (a preschool buddy ). I encouraged her to add some decorative borders and rhinestones to shine herself up.
倆倆在我強力的遊說之下，參加了唯一的一次高中舞會。她選擇了這件可愛的紫色短禮服，配合她的舞伴Gulliver （一個從幼稚園就認識的好朋友）組成了快樂二人組。這件也是朋友女兒給的小禮服。我為她在肩線上加了亮紗及小花，領口貼了小鑽石，裙襬上車了小花邊，看起來可愛又有亮點，非常適合她酷酷的個性！
I also made the corsage and boutonnière for them to wear. All flowers were from my garden!

2-a woven pattern on top of the tank top
2-小背心的變裝
I had this long shiny shirt for formal occasion but the top was not fit for RR. She needed a dress for her senior recital so I used a woven pattern fabric to make a dress top. It was simply to fold the whole mesh piece on top of a black tank top by hand sewing.
我有這麼一套正式場合穿的兩件式禮服，裙子很適合倆倆畢業演奏會的曲目，但上衣就顯得老氣了。於是我嘗試用小背心外加紗狀的織花，以立體剪裁的方式縫了這件上衣。讓她的演奏也有那麼一點不一樣的特別！
